NASSAU REPEATS AS REGION 15 GOLF CHAMPS

Defending NJCAA DIII and Region 15 Champs Nassau Community College cruised to another Region 15 title on Friday as the Lions outdistanced five other teams to gain a return to trip to the DIII Nationals hosted by Jamestown CC on June 2-6 at Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, NY.

Behind the strong play of 2008 Individual Champ and Medalist Colin Dolph and Region 15 Coach of the Year Larry DellAquila, Nassau posted a two day score of 665 while runner up Orange finished with a final score of 743. Nassau boasted the next two top finishers after Dolph (77, 82) with Dan Carr (164) and Matt Livolsi (168) having fine tournaments as well. Along with Nassau, five individuals from 4 different schools also qualified for the national championships. Congratulations to Nassau on another great performance and good luck to all in the nationals.

SULLIVAN WINS REGION 15 DII BASEBALL TITLE

Sullivan CC earned their first Region 15 DII Baseball championship on Tuesday May 6, defeating Dutchess CC by a score of 12-3 to earn a trip to the District Playoffs being hosted by Rockland CC on May 9, 10, 11. The winner of that playoff (Sullivan will face Monroe CC in their first game on May 9) will move on to the national championships starting May 24 in Millington Tennessee.

SUFFOLK SELDEN WINS SECOND STRAIGHT MEN'S TENNIS TITLE
For the second year in a row Suffolk CC Selden will represent Region 15 in Plano Texas as the Regional champs following a closely contested championship tournament hosted by Orange CC. Suffolk finished in first place behind Region 15 Coach of the Year Chris Cosenza. Kingsborough finished second after winning both the #1 singles and doubles spots. Dutchess came in third. Both Suffolk and KCC will travel to Plano for the DIII championships which takes place May 10-15.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS ANNOUNCED BY REGION 15 OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION
Region 15 Assignors of Officials Jack Sweeney and John Dooley recently announced the honorees for the 2007-08 Region 15 Team Sportsmanship Award winners voted on annually by member officials. The results are listed below. Awards will be presented at this year's dinner on May 13 at Verdi's in Queens, NY.

QUEENSBOROUGH CC TAKES 2008 REGION 15 DIII SOFTBALL TITLE
The Queensborough CC Tigers went undefeated over two straight rainy days to come out on top in the 2008 Region 15 Softball Championships hosted by Westchester CC on Friday and Saturday May 2 and 3. Under Region 15 Coach of the Year Pete Marchitello's leadership and the big bat of Tournament MVP ---Jessica Pavero, the Tigers defeated the Clippers of Suffolk CC in the final game by a score of 4-1 to gain QCC's first ever Region title and trip to the NJCAA Championships. The Tigers finished the Region 15 season with a record of 16-5, Suffolk finishes with a record of 21-9. Queensborough now moves on to the National Championships in Rochester, Minnesota May 15-17.
